Unraveling family relationships
<p><strong>Here are several exchanges of information between devoted family historians.</strong></p><p>On Wed, Sep 16, 12:10 PM, Lorraine Edwards sent a message to Patrick McGarry. </p><p>Patrick, I have John A. Metzger (1857-1940) and Eliza Wagoner (1860-1932) as parents of Clara May Metzger Flora (1881-1928). If I'm reading correctly the information you sent with the Wrightsman obituary, you have John Shively Metzger as her father. Siblings, parents, grandparents... to gather every available "source." I agree with the John A. and Mary Ann conflict with 1857 birth year. Several individuals with Ancestry Member Family Trees have Mary born on 4 Mar 1854 but when I check their "tree" they do not have a supporting "source." My pet peeve is individuals copying one another's tree. No source!!  ~~~~ I didn't even have the couple you listed in my database. I have a cousin with a huge Metzger database and she does not have your couple. ~~~~ I did a search and found the couple you referenced. But my concern is a couple from Bavaria...?? Ron, it just doesn't "fit" with the enormous number of Old German Baptist Brethren (and Church of the Brethren) individuals intermarried with "established in the Brotherhood" families.  ~~~ I'll keep searching because "I love a challenge!!" (Mental gynmastics for my eighty-five year old brain.)  ~~~~ I see where there are several (two or more) "Jacob" with 1821/1822 birth and 1906 death.</strong></p><p><strong>Lorraine sends greetings and wishes you "happy researching." Please let me know when you unravel this mystery. John A. Metzger

1857 - 1940

When John A. Metzger was born on August 4, 1857, in Clinton, Indiana, his father, Isaac, was 39 and his mother, Susan, was 31. He married Eliza J. Wagoner on August 22, 1880, in Carroll, Indiana. They had three children in 12 years. He died on December 4, 1940, in Carroll, Indiana, at the age of 83, and was buried in Custer, Michigan.
