General collection information
This collection includes several indexes for records from the former Lincoln and Welland counties in Ontario, Canada. The Lincoln/Welland Master Index includes baptism, marriage, and burial records, personal collections, and church records that are all searchable by name and date. The Ontario Name Index also includes a wide selection of record types that are searchable by name, location, and year. The Beamsville Post Express marriage index spans from 1892 to 1962 and is searchable by brides and grooms names and marriage dates. The Lincoln Marriage Certificates index has images of marriage certificates from 1878 to 1910. The collection also includes the burial records of Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, New York, and the New York State Historical Newspapers index.

Collection in context
The original vital records indexed in this collection were created by church and government officials in Lincoln and Welland counties. The indexes were created by the Ontario Genealogical Society, Niagara Peninsula Branch.
Lincoln County was one of the original counties of Ontario in 1792. The southern half of the county was annexed in 1845 to form Welland County. In 1970, Lincoln and Welland counties were merged to form the Regional Municipality of Niagara.
