I am looking for Edward C. Gamm 24 Aug 1844 in Germany, and came to America in 1865. He married Emily Huhnke in 1869 in NY City, NY. They lived in New Jersey and moved to South Stillwater, MN in the 1870's. They had 4 children that I am aware of. Charles 1871, Emma 1873, Gawond 1874, Edward 1878. They are listed on the 1885 census for Minnesota but then dropped off the census records and I cannot find out where they moved to. I would appreciate any help.

I've posted part of my Gamm tree so you can see it--you've helped me already, because I always suspected Emma was a dau but was told she was ECG's wife. So you've given me his wife. I also didn't know about Gawond--but there were 2 more ch, William Irene, born in St Paul. I am a direct descendant of ECG's brother Henry. I have more notes about ECG's life-- tons on his relations going sideways. I have another Emma Gamm shown as ECG's brother John's dau, but would like to verify that--she married John Gregory in CT. ANYway...pls write me at

My grandfather had a brother named Russell Gamm but he never married. What part of the country was he was in--cause I've uncovered an awful lot of Gamms. I take it yours married into your family?

The area was Saginaw,MI. Yes he married a distant cousin. Gertrudes parents were Andrew Konieczka and Agnes Barczak. The only additional info on Russell is his date of death 9 oct 1986. i have no info on children.

i don't know how experienced you are with research, but here are some places to look: for $19.99 you can have 3 mths' access to details thru free you can get a list of what records gamms appear in, in what states. The Soc Sec Death Index shows him, I guess you know that? I like for thoroughness & it's free--the best part is the bottom part of the search results with census, vitals etc. Of course the census is the best place to look--the latest years will have the most info but the earlier ones are easier to get. I looked thru my long list of info on individual Gamms but I think I skipped Michigan. We may well be distantly related, tho--one of our first to come from Germany settled in MN & SD, and the clan spread to different western states; others just stayed in CT & NY-NJ. Ours are originally from Neustadt in Schleswig-Holstein... best of luck, be sure to write if you think I can help .

The Russell Gamm that you mention is my ex-wifes grandfather. Russell and Gertrude had three children James, Shirley and Jerry if I remember right. Let me know if you need any more information. How are you related to Russell Gamm??

thank you for your reply. Russel Gamm's wife Gertrude konieczka is my 1st cousin twice removed. your ex would be my 3rd cousin I believe. Gertrude's mother Agnes Barczak konieczka is my greatgrandfather's sister. i would be interested in any info you would be willing to share. Did you have children? If you or any children or your ex is interested in info I have i would be happy to share. I have much Konieczka info. I've met a few Barczak cousins and have shared our line info. I am deadended on working backwards so i've been working down the lines more than anything else. It is interesting meeting distant cousins. You can write me directly .I look forward to hearing from you.
