I don't know if you are aware of but they have a publication "Sherman County: For the Record" and it is available on their site, under Publications. In Index Vo.1 No. 1, I find Patjen, Patjens in Vol. 3 No.1 & 2; Vol 2 No 2; Vol 2 No 1; Vol 4 No. 2;

Grass Valley, Oregon is in Sherman County.

Lillian Schassen is mentioned in the book "They Paved the Way by Bertha Belshe, C 1976 if you can find a copy in your local library.

Your Johannes Heinrich von Spreckelsen was born on June 4, 1862 in Ritsch, parish of Assel as son of Johann von Schassen and Margaretha Dorothea nee Witt who maried on June 15, 1860. I have some informations on Peters and Patjens of the parish Assel too. For which persons Peters resp. Patjens you are looking?

John H. Schassen, brother of Henry, Trinchen, Annie and Emma in Germany, was born 1862 Hanover Province, Germany, the son of John and Margaret (Witte) Schassen, and came to USA as a young man, settling on a farm in the Kent area of S Sherman County, OR. He married 22 Oct 1887 at The Dalles, Wasco Co OR, Margaret Patjens who was also born in Hanover Province.

John and Margaret (Patjens) Schassen had children:
1. John A. who m Martha A. Peters and had Elsie who d 1911; Gustav who m Mildred, had Henry & Lucille, d Long Beach, WA 1974; Rodell John who d Portland OR 1986; and Lillian who m Hess;
2. Catherine Emma b 1890 near Kent, OR, d 1955, m Luther Davis, son of Hider C. & Ida Davis, 28 Oct 1916 Congregational parsonage, The Dalles, OR, parents of Evelyn who m Mahlon Tracewell & Luther Jr who m Helen Wilson;
3. Anna Margaret b 1892 in Sherman Co OR, d 1974 Portland, OR, m Louie E. Clark 30 Dec 1913 at John Schassen's residence in Sherman Co OR;

Heinrich/Henrich Peters, b 1854 Germany, d 1941, buried Grass Valley, OR. To USA 1888 with children then born and settled in the Kent area of Sherman County, OR. He married Elise Suhr, sister of Dick Suhr who lived near the Peters' in Sherman County, in Germany. She was related to the Parjens family: John D. Patjens m Margaretha Suhr 1889.

Children of Henrich and Elisa Suhr Peters included:
1. Peter Peters b Germany 1881, d 1940 m IRene Ingalls 1919;
2. Heinrich/Henry Peters 1885-1894 was killed when dragged by a horse riding to school;
3. Maria/Mary 1888-1939 m Hans Koepke 1905 Sherman Co OR, parents of Alma, Frieda, Erna, Olga & John;
4. Martha m John A. Schassen;
