Talofa Aufa'i,

This is very commendable of you, and the history of Saleaula and its People should be given true rights in the annals of Polynesian history.

Gaga'emauga is an electoral district on the island of Savai'i in Samoa. The district is situated on the central north side of Savai'i. The name Gaga'emauga literally means: “near side of the mountain” meaning the eastern side of the mountain chain running through the centre of Savai'i.

The traditional centre of the district is Saleaula, where the district chiefs (matai) and orators meet at Vaitu’utu’u malae.

Samoa has different stories about the origins of different names and villages.

For the origin of Sale'aula village, one version tells of two brothers, Le'aula and Letufuga. Le'aula founded the village of Saleaula (Sa Le'aula, family of Le'aula), and Letufuga founded Safotulafai.[3]

Fa’alupega explained… properly

Basically, a fa’alupega is a salutation used to address representatives of a nu’u or family at a formal gathering.

Let us know how your journey begins...:).
