Deceased Name: Dale Everett Zimdars
Dale Everett Zimdars passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at the age of 82, in Billings.
Dale was born Dec. 22, 1929, to Benjamin A. Zimdars and Bertha Krause Zimdars in Denmark, Wis. His childhood as a minister's son was spent in small towns throughout Wisconsin, settling later in Bonduel , Wis., where they established a family farm. He received his BA from North Central College in Naperville, Ill. and his BD from the Evangelical Theological Seminary, Naperville, Ill. He went on to gain MS and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Chicago, where he met his first wife, Petrea Bruun. They married Dec. 29, 1960, in Freeman, S.D.
Moving to Billings in 1965, Dale began his 44-year career as a professor of history and political science at Rocky Mountain College, retiring in 2009. He thoroughly enjoyed academia, teaching and being a part of the RMC community.
Dale is survived by his wife, Deanna; a son, David (Barbara) Zimdars, grandsons, Joshua and Lucas of Ann Arbor, Mich.; a daughter, Rebecca (Carol) Zimdars, grandchildren Claire, Connor and Angelia of Friendswood, Texas; two stepsons, Craig Eggum of Billings, and Cale Eggum of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Benjamin F. Zimdars, Fredericksburg, Va.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Petrea Bruun Zimdars.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Chapel West, 304 34th St. W., Billings, MT 59102.
