Emily White Simmons

ELIOT, Maine - Emily S. White passed away Saturday, April 6, in Naples, Florida from liver cancer. She died with her loving husband, and true love, Dan Mannschreck by her side.

She will be remembered for providing a lifetime of love, happiness, and friendship to all who knew her. Her selfless giving, zest for life, and commitment to her family will never be forgotten by those she touched.

Emily loved her family and always ensured they could count on her love. She took great joy in her friendships - her vast circle was created over a lifetime. To have met her once was to have the feeling that you had known her your entire life.

Emily was a gifted poet, artist, and teacher. She was extremely proud of the many young art students she taught over the years, and enjoyed watching them flourish in their medium, and in their lives.

Emily was born October 14, 1941, in Ironton, Missouri, and was raised in Potosi, Missouri. After graduation from Potosi High School she attended Lindenwood College in Saint Charles, Missouri. After living in Michigan, Florida, Texas, and California, she moved to New England, her spiritual home, where she eventually settled in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for 19 years.

In 2005 she married Dannen Mannschreck who had been her friend for nearly 50 years. After a two year sojourn in Odessa, Texas, they moved back to Eliot, Maine where the two spent glorious summers, while wintering in Naples.

She leaves behind her husband Dannen Mannschreck, her son David Verdi, his wife Debra, Son Alan Verdi and his wife Michelle Gonzales Verdi, Holly Polson (Nee) Mannschreck, 5 grandchildren: Colleen, Steven, Elisa, Calvin, Grace and a future grandchild due May 10th; plus hundreds of friends.

In addition to her parents Emily is preceded in death by Lt. James Verdi.
