You may have already found more info on John Gott the 3rd Bishop of Truro. John was born on Christmas day 1830, the youngest son of William Gott, Wyther Grange, Yorkshire, and of Margaret Ewart, Mosley Hill, Liverpool. He married on the 10 June 1858 to Harriet Mary Maitland, daughter of Whitaker Maitland, Loughton Hall, Essex, 1858. Harriet was his cousin, and her mother was Ann Gott.
John Gott was ordained to the curacy of Great Yarmouth; appointed Vicar of Bramley, near Leeds, then Vicar of Leeds, became Dean of Worcester Cathedral, then 3rd Bishop of Truro. As bishop he resided near the village of Tywardreath in Cornwall, and is buried in the village churchyard.
