I noticed on your profile you are also researching the "van Hine" name, this name gave me some trouble because I couldn't get any matches although there was one public tree who had the name "Verhage" where the name got changed soon after they landed in Paterson, NJ. Originally this didn't make much sense but eventually evidence started to pile up because we have three brothers so far immigrating with the right first name and birth dates all matching.
Jacob Verhage born 18 Oct 1837 at Texel
Anthony Verhage born 4 Jan 1845 at Ouddorp
Paulus Verhage born 13 Dec 1847 at Ouddorp
Parents: Dirk Verhage and Cornelia Breen
These can all be found in in the census' under the last name "van Hine" but they do match up with the immigration records and passenger lists with the name "Verhage" so they must have changed their last name for some reason though it doesn't seem to be making their name more English sounding.
I am guessing you have Paul van Hine as your ancestor, he immigrated as a 19 year old single man in 1866. I haven't been able to find his passenger list but he shows here leaving the municipality of Ouddorp for New York in 1866 under the name Paulus Verhage.
