About U.S., Dutch Christian Reformed Church Vital Records, 1856-1970
This collection contains records of baptisms, marriages, deaths, and funerals from the Christian Reformed Church in America. Most records are in English, some are in Dutch, and a few are in German. Details in the registers vary but may include the following:
Baptisms: name, parents’ names, date and place of birth, date and place of baptism, officiating minister
Marriages: name, age, color, birthplace, residence, and occupation for bride and groom; marriage date
Deaths/funerals: name, sex, place and date of death, age, place of interment, residence, date and place of birth, marital status, survived by
The Christian Reformed Church (CRC) traces its theological roots back to the Protestant Reformation in the sixteenth century. A break with the Dutch Reformed Church led to the organization of the CRC in 1857 in Michigan.
