Sui Name Meaning

Chinese : from the name of the state of Sui () that existed during the Zhou dynasty (1122–221 bc). Descendants of a ruler of this state adopted its name as their surname. However, the current form of the name is in most cases the character , which was used to represent the name of the Sui dynasty (581–618 ad). An emperor of that dynasty, Wen Di, commanded the change in form.
