Schreier Name Meaning
German: occupational name for a town crier, or nickname for a noisy individual, from an agent derivative of Middle High German schri(e)n ‘to shout’. Jewish (Ashkenazic): from German Schreier, Yiddish shrayer ‘shouter’; a nickname for a noisy person, or, possibly, an occupational name for a person whose duty it was to summon Jews to public worship.
