Maslin Name Meaning

English (mainly Wiltshire and Gloucestershire): from the Old French and Middle English personal names Mazelin (male) or Mazeline (female) which are double diminutives of ancient Germanic Mazo Matso (male) and Maza Matsa (female). These are probably pet forms of ancient Germanic names such as Mathalgar (see Major ) which have mathal- ‘speech’ as their first element but the female name might also be a pet form of Matild(a) (see Tillett ).
