Maly Name Meaning

Czech (Malý) and Polish (Maly): from the common Slavic adjective maly ‘small’ (Czech malý, Polish maly). This was both a nickname for a physically small man and a pet name for a child, which was sometimes retained into adult life. The cognate noun malec in Polish and Czech has the additional sense ‘lad’, which is probably also the origin of some surnames.
