Lois Name Meaning
Portuguese and Galician: from a local variant personal names Luis or Eloi (see Loy). Greek (also Loes): from a Greek form of the French personal name, Louis. The name is found especially in Cyprus, which was under French rule for a time in the Middle Ages. It may also be a shortening of Loizos, patronymic Loizidis, which have the same origin.
