German: habitational name from places in Saxony or former West Prussia called Kasdorf or Kastorf, named with the Rhineland dialect word Kas, Kos ‘copse of young oaks’ + Old High German dorf, thorf ‘village’. (Käsdorf): habitational name from any of several places in Lower Saxony named Käsdorf.
