Kardos Name Meaning

Hungarian and Jewish (from Hungary): from kard ‘sword’, hence a metonymic occupational name for a warrior or a status name for a swordsman, i.e. a nobleman who had the right to wear a sword. As a Jewish surname it was ornamental. Czech (Kardoš): variant of Kardas.
