Ishihara Name Meaning

Japanese: from a common place name meaning ‘rocky plain’. This is a frequent surname; one group of bearers, from Kai (now Yamanashi prefecture), is descended from the Takeda family; several others descend from other branches of the Minamoto clan. The name is pronounced Ishibaru in the Ryukyu Islands.
