Iida Name Meaning

Japanese: written with characters meaning ‘paddy of cooked rice’, perhaps the original meaning was ‘good rice paddy’. One family, descended from the Takeda family, lived in the village of Iida in Kai (now Yamanashi prefecture); another family, of Murakami descent, lived in a village by that name in Shinano (now Nagano prefecture). Both families are of the Minamoto clan. The name is also found on Okinawa Island.
