Japanese: ‘plain’ or ‘field’; variously written, taken from a place name in Musashi (now Tokyo and Saitama prefectures), and perhaps from other similarly named localities, as well as in the Ryukyu Islands. Listed in the Shinsen shojiroku. reduced form of Irish O’Hara.
