Faler Name Meaning

Altered spelling of German Pfahler, Pfähler from Middle High German pfal ‘stake’, ‘post’, an early loan word from Latin palus. It was a topographic name for someone who lived near a post marking the village boundary, or just outside a city wall; or alternatively an occupational name for a postmaker. Perhaps an Americanized spelling of German Fehler.
