Chiba Name Meaning

Japanese: ‘thousand leaves’; habitational name from Chiba-gun in Shimosa (now part of Chiba prefecture). The Chiba were a branch of the Taira clan, and were powerful in Shimosa from the 12th to 16th centuries.
