Benkert Name Meaning
South German: habitational name for someone from a place named Benk, of which there are several examples in Bavaria, or from either of two places in Switzerland named Benken, in Basel and Zurich cantons. In some instances it may be an occupational name for a carpenter, from an agent derivative of Middle High German benken ‘to make benches’.
