Axe Family History
Axe Name Meaning
English: evidently a metonymic occupational name for a woodman. A further possible origin is from the French place name element Ax (etymologically identical to Aix), from Latin aquis (dative or ablative plural) ‘near the waters’, denoting a spa. In some cases perhaps an altered form of German Axt.
