Czech: nickname for a man with a bald pate from a variant of the adjective lysý ‘bald’. French: variant of Lys a habitational name from any of several places so named e.g. in Nord and Pyrénées-Atlantiques. Galician: habitational name from Lis in Pontevedra province Galicia (Spain).
