The surname Leibengut has apparently died out in Switzerland; today a few bearers are found in France only. Compare Libengood Livengood Livergood Livingood and Lovingood . Alternatively but less likely an Americanized form of Swiss German Liebengut: nickname meaning ‘dear and good’ (lieb und gut). The surname Liebengut is not found in Switzerland or elsewhere in Europe.
