Killed in Battle

Captian James Tate led his men in the Battle of Cowpens. At the Battle of Guilford Courthouse (NC), a British victory, he was killed in action. He is buried in the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, Greensboro, Guilford, North Carolina.

This record shows that Captain Tate served as a Liet. at the fall of Charleston, and was killed at Guilford Courthouse in 1781.
