According to the 2022 State of Global Learning Poverty Report, right now more than 260 million children around the world are currently out of school, and the pandemic has left 7 out of 10 children in lower-income countries unable to read basic text with comprehension at age 10. And 50% of young people are not on track to have the most basic skills for employment by 2030.
Today marks International Day of Education, and it is more important than ever for businesses to step up and support the next generation with the tools and opportunities they need to make history. Ancestry is proud to join Theirworld’s Global Business Coalition for Education, a movement of businesses committed to ending the global education crisis and unleashing the potential of the next generation.
Ancestry will collaborate with the coalition and member organizations to leverage our resources, like AncestryClassroom™ - an Ancestry philanthropic program which provides educators with access to educational resources and Ancestry record collections at no cost - to empower the next generation of history makers.
Building on this commitment, Ancestry supports Theirworld’s Global Youth Ambassador program which gives young people who are passionate about ending the education crisis the skills, knowledge and community to unlock big change at a local and global level.
In 2023 the program will equip 2,000 young people in more than 100 countries united in their passion for social justice, climate action and the right to education. We look forward to working with Theirworld to provide these Global Youth Ambassadors with the platforms and resources to ignite meaningful change in their communities.
We are proud of our collaboration and look forward to working with Theirworld to eliminate barriers and help create brighter futures for tomorrow’s leaders.
