Like many in the genealogy community, I’ve been closely following the news around 23andMe, including yesterday’s announcement that the company has filed for bankruptcy. It’s a tough day for 23andMe’s employees and their customers.

The news surrounding 23andMe may leave some questioning the future of the industry or the value of DNA. Let me say unequivocally that genetic genealogy - using DNA to understand who you are and where you come from - is thriving. It is a powerful tool in our family history journeys, and as our DNA network grows and science advances, it just keeps getting better.

For over 40 years, Ancestry has been at the forefront of family history, consistently delivering value, building trust, and remaining nimble as technology and consumer needs change. Today, we are stronger and more committed than ever to innovating, leading with integrity, and putting customers at the center of everything we do.

The foundation we’ve built, the leadership we continue to provide, and the loyalty of our customers are all testaments to our staying power. Our longevity isn’t just a number—it’s a reflection of the value we provide to our customers.

Every day, I have the privilege of witnessing firsthand the profound impact of discovering your family story. We are here to stay and excited about the opportunities ahead. Rest assured, we will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible and remain the trusted partner you can rely on for many years to come.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Howard Hochhauser
