My impression is that FTM is a entry point into subscriptions to and for people that generally only research 2 or 3 generations back in time, and with maybe 100 to 200 individuals. Most people are content with unsourced content, minimal documentation and only a few pictures.

If, for example, 10,000 units are sold, how may people actually come to this forum and complain about speed and abending programs? a few dozen?

Yes I would expect the product to not abend, freeze or require tons of resources. I also expected it to except my well formed GEDCOM and use the data it provided correctly. I also expected reports and books to be usable in a real publication or allow me to really format a book like a book. BUT none of these things are working to my satisfaction.

I probably will not throw more money at FTM for upgrades unless they can prove that all of these problems have been addressed and corrected.
