I wonder if it would be in order to add a side question here. In the last 60 years I have attended a number of funerals and in every case the remains were cremated. Does cremation count as burial? How do you record the place? Often the ashes are removed from the crematorium after cremation and scattered somewhere, often, but not always, with a plaque or memorial of some sort. Is that to be regarded as the burial place?

One other, related, question - my father was killed in action and his official date of death was 14 days after his actual date of death, and I have ample source records to prove that. How do I record that? Do I simply ignore the service record and go with the other evidence? Incidentally he died at sea and although I have a rough idea where I rather think that might be hard to record.
