There's no World Connect on Ancestry.com.

If you've uploaded a tree to rootsweb.com World Connect (WCT), that same tree data is VIEWABLE ONLY on Ancestry.com in AWT (Ancestry World Tree). ATW is so buried on the Ancestry site, only experienced ACOM site users know how to find it. AWT trees DO NOT generate "hints" or returns when someone is doing a global search on Ancestry.com. If you choose to have your tree on rootsweb.com WCT, it boggles the mind why having it viewable on Ancestry is a causing angst.

If you remove your tree from rootsweb World Connect, it's goes "poof" (it disappears) from AWT as well. You cannot go reverse, ie; remove (or upload an updated GED) a rootsweb WCT from AWT on the Ancestry site.

If you can't remove your WCT (see attachments), contact rootsweb support.

Please note: Ancestry World Tree and Ancestry Member Tree are two entirely different animals. They don't interact with one another.

In regard to the SSDI, it's free on familysearch.org and other sites. Ancestry choose to remove it on the rootsweb site, that's their prerogative, like it or not. Complaining about losing "free" is tiresome, what does Ancestry owe you exactly? The index data has been augmented on every (free or subscription) site to comply with a (fairly) recent US Congressional mandate.
