I have found a probate record for Richard Newsam dated 24th November 1873, it states that he died in the South Pacific on 17th Novemeber 1851.
Probate was granted to his sister after their father had died. She claimed probate for her other brother James and her father another James at the same time. James jnr also died in 1851, but took his own life.
James Snr was a reverend, and their mother had died in 1838 the cause of death being recorded as a "head infliction". When James jnr took his own life his suicide note said "my parent has much to blame himself for", and also, "I wish I could have seen poor Dick".
I cannot find a death certificate for Richard and don't know where to start looking to find out where or how he died. I have tried various ships lists with no success.
It would appear to have been a very unhappy family and I would love to piece together what happened.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do next to forward my research?
