Obituary taken from the Canora Courier, April 9, 2014:

SUKORUKOFF - Ollie Sukorukoff of Saskatoon and formerly of Canora passed away peacefully with her family by her side at ST. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, on March 28, 2014, at the age of 85 years. Ollie was born on May 19, 1928 in Canora, SK to William and Mary (Boyda) Yakichuk. Ollie's thoughtful and compassionate nature was evident in her youth as she migrated towards employment in which she utilized her care-giving skills. From 1943, she began her career as a caregiver in, where she worked in many capacities within the Canora Hospital, Belmoral Hotel, Palace Cafe and Auxiliary Hospital in Canora until 1950. Ollie married Paul Sukorukoff and they were blessed with four children: Deb, Paula, Robin and Lorae. Ollie gained experience in other employment areas which included Tots & Teens/Family Shoppe and eventually settled in Saskatoon where she enjoyed an exemplary nursing career with Lutheran Towers, and she continued to work until her retirement in 1993. When Ollie retired from the work world, she simply took on more of a role working with her family. Many hours were enjoyed in her daughter's gardens, which inevitably led to countless hours of canning. Her extended time in the kitchen resulted in perfecting soup recipes that even Campbell's wouldn't compare. Ollie also loved to knit and crochet, creating the most beautiful items from hats to slippers and anything else she could make that would show her amazing handiwork. Ollie's talents were many, but her true passion was with her grandchildren. She loved them dearly and spent valuable time with each and everyone doing almost anything they asked. Her love grew even stronger with her great-grandchildren as she added one more role to her caregiving passion. She taught them many things from making perogies to crafts, and supported their projects up until her illness prevented her ability to do so. Ollie's smile, obliging personality and caring disposition will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Ollie was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary; her sister Hattie Berlinski and sister-in-law Audrey Yakichuk. SHe is survived by her children: Deb (Norman) Leson of Canora, Paula (Wendell) Suwinski of Saskatoon, Lorae Dawn Sukorukoff of Montreal, QC and Robin (Laura) Sukorukoff of New Westminster, BC; her sister, Nancy Solotki; brothers Dave Yakuchuk, Ed (Pat) Yakichuk, Alex (Evelyn) Yakichuk and Don (Carole) Yakichuk; her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, APril 1, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Leson's Funersal Home, Canora with Rev. Catherine Pace of the United Church of Canada officiating. Cremation followed, with the interment of cremated remains in the Canora Cemetery, Canora SK at a later date. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a Charity of Donor's Choice as tokens of rememberance in memory of Ollie Sukorukoff.
