I am grasping at straws...unable to find any info on my paternal grandparents who came to the US separately as young adults in the early 1900's. My cousins and I have been trying to research both families with extremely little luck. From a passport prepared by the Romanian consolate, we believe my grandfather's name may have been Ion Dmetriuc. His name was changed to John Metro after his arrival in the US. He traveled to the US from the Forbes (?) area of Transylvania with two brothers who did not enter the US but went on to Canada. My grandmother, Wiktoria (Victoria) Ohotnicqy, came to the US from the Bukovina area of Romania as a teen, indentured as a nanny/housekeeper/cook in NYC. I have tried to search on these names without any luck. Are there any possible variances I should try? Thank you for any help provided.
