HUBBARD, Ohio – John W. Zackasee, 80, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, Poland, Ohio.

John was born Aug. 15, 1932, in Campbell, Ohio a son of Michael and Sophie Zackasee, and moved to Hubbard, Ohio in 1958.

He was a 1950 graduate of Campbell High School.

John worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube for over 30 years as an assistant roller at Campbell Works.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

John loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his dogs, Rossi and Bessie.
He also enjoyed playing cards, and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.

His wife, the former Susan Murar, whom he married May 10, 1958, passed away June 4, 2010.

John will be sadly missed by his family, his sons, John W. (Laura) Zackasee Jr. and Scott E. Zackasee, both of Hubbard, OH; his daughter, Jennifer L. Jagels Zackasee of Columbus, Ohio; and his step grandchildren, Sarah Lesky and Jessica Lesky.

He also leaves his brothers, Michael Zackasee and Steven Zackasee, both of Campbell; and his sisters, Mary Bell of Lowellville, Ohio and Loretta Kovach of Austintown, OH.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; his sister, Katherine Zackasee; and daughter-in-law, Josephine Zackasee.

There will be services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home

There will be calling hours on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, two hours prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

John will be laid to rest at Hubbard Union Cemetery with full military honors provided by Trumbull County American Legion Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OHIO 44514 or the Coalburg United Methodist Church, 1906 Wick Campbell Road SE, Hubbard, OH 44425.
