HONEFANGER, Jefferson Guy "Doc" 88, of Springfield, Ohio passed away February 2, 2013 at Oakwood Village.

He was born December 11, 1924 in Springfield, Ohio the son of the late Jefferson M. and Maude (Sinclair) Honefanger.

Jeff graduated from Enon High School in 1942.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in France with the 45th Infantry Division during World War II. He received a Purple Heart after being wounded in France.
Upon honorable discharge, he attended and graduated from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry.
Doc practiced from 1949 and retired in 2006.
He was a lifetime member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows, St. Andrews Masonic Lodge, VFW Post 1031, DAV Post 13 and Charter Member of Military Order of the Purple Heart of Clark County, Ohio.
Jeff was a member of Central United Methodist Church (now Faith UMC)

Survivors include his children, Albert R. (Helen) First of Big Timber, Montana, Patty A. Massie, Jeff G. II (Janie) Honefanger, Kim G. (Tom) Dunn all of Springfield, OH; sister, Joanne L. Honefanger of Murray, Kentucky; grandchildren, Debbie Ratliff, Amy Watson, Johnny (Teresa) Massie Jr., Aaron (Cathy) Massie, Christopher (Charissa) Honefanger, Mia (Jason) Adams, Hugh Quinn III, Benjamin Honefanger, Evan Pitstick and Steve Dunn; six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 56 years, Rethea L. (Ballew) Honefanger; brother, Robert F. Honefanger; special son-in-law, John Massie Sr. and two great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with St Andrews Masonic Service at 7 p.m., IOOF Service at 7:15 p.m. and Military of Order of Purple Heart Service at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Linda Hedden officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ferncliff Cemetery with military honors.
