Darlene passed away on Monday January 16th in her home with her daughter and her granddaughters with love, peace and dignity.

Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

She was born at home in Lawton, Oklahoma to Lester and Bernice Stout on January 3rd 1933. She wed her first love Paul Fontenot on November 13th 1948. They had two children, Jerry and Darla. She worked as a telephone operator until the birth of her son Jerry in 1957. Her daughter Darla was born 3 years later. She fulfilled her dream as a stay at home mom who was completely devoted to her family. She was active in every endeavor her children participated, whether it included cub scouts, football, baseball, bluebirds or cheerleading.

On March 11th, 1979 she married James “Tiny” Ehmer. She went to work at Taliaferro in 1971 and retired in 1989. She loved her job and the many friends she met along the way. Her husband “Tiny” passed away in October of 1991.

Blessed for the third time with love in her lifetime, she met Mack Cox in the spring of 2000, who continued to be her dedicated and loving companion and by her side until her passing.

As a mother, grandmother and great grandmother she taught us the true meaning of unconditional love and unwavering compassion. She was our living angel here on earth and is now in heaven with our beloved Savior Jesus Christ and our family that has gone before us.

She is survived by her loving companion Mack Cox, Cache, OK; daughter Darla Sayre, Lawton, OK; granddaughter Nichole Fontenot, of the home; her granddaughter and grandson Casi and Gregory Walters and their children DebiAnn and Christian “Bubba”, Gray Court, SC; her granddaughter and grandson Brandi and Nathan Wedman and their children Noah and Connor, Lawton, OK; her beloved sister and brother in law Shirley and Jesse Graves, Lawton, OK and their daughter and her husband Connie and Gary Coleman; VA; her Aunt Wilma Stout….what a WOMAN!!!; her cousin Helen Chamberlain, OKC, OK with whom she had a clairvoyant bond that we could never explain, Bless you Hellie!; and Stacy Townsend who was her surrogate granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her beloved “Tiny” Ehmer, her baby boy Jerry and her one of a kind nephew Steven Rathsack, who she loved like her own.

We want to say, it is because of the seeds she planted of love, laughter, compassion and unconditional care is why we are who we are today. She may be gone but the impression she made in each of our lives will continue on for generations to come.

In honor of her being a 12 year breast cancer survivor, the family is requesting that all donations be made to the charity “Susan G. Komen For the Cure”; Attn: Donor Services; P.O. Box 650309; Dallas, Texas 75265-0309.
