Mrs. Kathryn (Gancarz) Bieniek, 93, of Sun City Center, Florida, a former longtime Adams resident, died Monday, September 17, 2007 at Sun Terrace Care Center in Sun City Center.
She was born in Savoy on September 4, 1914, a daughter of the late Augustyn and Julia (Gawlak) Gancarz, and attended schools in Savoy and Adams. She had lived in Florida since 1987.
Mrs. Bieniek assisted her late husband, Lawrence Bieniek, in the operation of the former family farm, and later, Pinnacle Mobile Home Park in Adams, which he developed and founded in 1958. She remained active in the business until they sold the park and retired in 1985. She had also worked part-time at the Eastern Summit Gift Shop in Florida, MA.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Adams, where she had served as a deaconess and Sunday school teacher, and was a member of its Women’s Society, Tri Con Club, Choir, and Music and Flower Committees. She was also a former member of the Young Farmer’s Association, the Berkshire County Extension Service, and was a member and leader of the Mohawk Agricultural 4-H Club for many years.
Her husband, whom she married on June 12, 1933, died November 23, 2005.
She is survived by 2 Daughters – Virginia Morello of Sun City Center, Florida, and Lorraine Snyder of Fort Lonesome, Florida;
1 Brother – Alfred Gancarz of Adams;
5 Sisters – Adela Czubryt and Wanda Kieltyka, both of Adams; Celia Bloniarz of Savoy, Helen Michalski of Cheshire, and Rose Colley of CA.
3 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great great Grandson, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.
She was predeceased by 2 brothers- John and Walter Gancarz, and by 2 sisters – Stacia Krzeminski and Blanche Gebarowski.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 26, at 12:30 PM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by services at 1:00 PM in the First Congregational Church, Adams.
Rev. Michael Mullany, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association through the funeral home.
