Ocala - Ms. Sylvelin Thomas Paine, was born in Maryland on November 19, 1921. She passed away in Ocala, Fl. on May 5, 2008 at home after a long illness. She was married to the late Charles Jackson Paine from Boston. She was a resident of Marion County for 14 years. She was a member of the New Covenant Worship Center in Ocala. Ms. Paine was active in the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association and raced Thoroughbreds. She loved horses. Sylvelin played on the Baltimore World Hockey Team that went to the National Championship and she also played on the Maryland Champion Basketball Team in Baltimore. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Bosley Thomas. She is survived by two sisters Jeanne Dorsey of Baltimore, Md. and Lizette T. Day of Hollywood, Md.
