Funeral services for Charlie Winkelman, age 75, of Needville, TX, are scheduled for 10 AM Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville, TX, with Rev. Fred Banda and Rev. Lori Keaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Immanuel United Church of Christ Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Band, Stephen Band, Jeff Cantwell, Scott Cantwell, Ray Winkelman and Brandon Winkelman. Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at the Garmany & Carden Chapel in Needville, TX. Mr. Winkelman was born October 2, 1931, in Brenham, TX, to Henry and Selma Winkelman. He died Saturday, January 13, 2007, at his residence in Needville, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of the first graduating class of Needville High School in 1949. Charlie operated numerous businesses in Needville during his lifetime, and he retired from Phillips Petroleum in Sweeny, TX, as an electrical supervisor after 30 years of service. He was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville, TX. Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Geraldine Winkelman, of Needville; son, Charles Lee Winkelman and wife, Jenny, of The Woodlands; daughters, Diana Tydlacka and husband, Robert, of Fairchilds; Gayle Horak and husband, James, of Needville; Charlene Miller and husband, Larry, of Guy; Vickie Maresh of Needville; grandchildren, Amanda, Amber and Alyssa Miller, Keith Kostelnik and wife, Melissa, Michele Kostelnik, Jacob Horak, Lena and Christopher Maresh, and Avery Winkelman; great grandchildren, Bradley and Kaitlyn Kostelnik; sisters, Mary Louise Band of Rosenberg and Christine Cantwell and husband, Jack, of Katy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Winkelman was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Selma Winkelman, and by a brother, Raymond Winkelman. The family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Amirali Popatia and his caring staff.
