Lenard "L.K." Knight, Sr., 73, of Abilene, TX passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at an Abilene medical center.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Knight officiating, under the direction of Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St.

Visitation will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at 5358 Congress.

Lenard Knight, Sr., was born to Lillie and Jeff Knight on August 2, 1932 in Milam County, Texas. He attended Carter G. Woodson High School. Soon after, he joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharge in April 1956. After returning back to the states, he married Gloria J. Hunter on September 15, 1956 (who preceded him in death in 1973). To this union were born 5 children.

He leaves to mourn his five children: his oldest daughter, Vicki (Larry) Barber of Ontario, CA, Lenard (Pamela) Knight, Jr. of Fontana, CA, Robbie Michelle Knight of Inglewood, CA, Johnny (Marshonne) Knight of West Covina, CA, and Ray (Michelle) Knight of Carson, CA; 15 grandchildren and 8 great- grandchildren.

He is survived by 6 sisters: Belzora Hamilton, Thelma Penney and Arthalia "Tay" Pope, of Abilene, Baby Knight (Andrew) Houston of Fort Worth, TX, Sedalia "Nay" Parks and Frances Green of Arlington, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews that will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ocie Knight and J.H. Howard, and two sisters, Lillie Faye Knight-Foreman and Willie Knight Holmes.
