The funeral for Linda Lee Jordan Wright, 65, will be 2 pm Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at Jet United Methodist Church. The Revs. Faye Good and Kirk Board will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery north of Jet, OK. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Cherokee, OK. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family being present from 6 to 8 p.m.

She was born Jan. 9, 1938, in Oklahoma City, OK. to George Smith and Ester Lee Fleming Jordan, and died Wed. Feb. 12, 2003, at Great Plains Care Center, Helena, OK.

In 1980, she chose Linda Jordan Wright as a professional name. She retired as a piano educator in 2002, after 40 years. She studied piano under Margaret Halsted of Carmen, OK.; Dr. Clarence Burg of Okla. City University; Dr. James Breckenridge of Southwestern Okla. State University; and Dr. Charlotte Krocker of Phillips University. She received the National Certified Teacher of Music Award and was a member of the National Music Teachers Association and Enid Area Music Teachers Association, having served as president of this association. She was the first woman to serve as a trustee on the Jet Town Board, was a member of the Walk to Emmaus and served as a Five Year Council Ring member at Tonkawa C.F.O. She was a member of Jet United Methodist Church and had served as pianist at Carmen Christian Church. She married Phillip W. Smith. They had three children.

Surviving are two sons, George Michael Smith of the United Arab Emirates, and Gary S. Smith of Collegeville, PA.; one daughter, Kellee M. Smith George of Tahlequah, OK.; one brother, James Jordan Sr. of Sacramento, CA.; one sister, Betty Metcalf of Jet, OK.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love, Jet Joy Club, the church of donors' choice or Linda Jordan Wright final expenses, with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds. A scholarship in her name has also been set up at Jet State Bank.
