MCMENAMY, , EDWARD BENTON Services for E.B. McMenamy of Whitesboro will be held Tuesday, December 11,2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Restland Memorial Chapel in Dallas Texas. Ed passed away on Friday, December 7, 2007. He was born in Whitesboro, Texas on January 13, 1921 to Kittie Prater and James Logan McMenamy. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Geraldine Reid McMenamy. Other survivors include his daughters Donna (husband John Gibbs), Lisa (husband Tolbert Moore), and Carolyn (husband Doyle Schuler); grandchildren Paul and Patty Gibbs, Mark and Shirley Gibbs, Brian and Claire Gibbs, Amy and Ben Carter, Kyle Moore, Kelly and Darron Ruckman; also survived by 10 great grandchildren and by 3 nieces and 1 nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Alice McMenamy Strode, and brother James (Bud) McMenamy. Ed was a World War II veteran serving in the Phillipines. Afterwards, he was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and retired from there after 38 years of service. He was a member and leader in the Communication Workers of America Local 6215 where he was the editor of the paper "The Unioneer" for many years. The Local named a meeting room in his honor. He was very active in local, state, and national Democratic politics.
