Edna Mae Kelly

Mrs. Edna Mae Callaway Kelly, of Rosston, Ark., was born on December 27, 1926 at Hollywood, Arkansas to Eugene and Clara Callaway. Her peace came on Monday, July 2, 2007 when she left for her heavenly home from a Hope Hospital.

Edna Callaway Kelly taught in a one-room school in the Hollywood community after her graduation from Arkadelphia High School. In 1946 she married John Nolen Kelly and moved to Rosston where Mr. Kelly was employed as a lineman for South Central Electric. They raised their three children in the Rosston community.

Edna Kelly served as a rural letter carrier for twelve years and has also served as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. She was City Recorder for the city of Rosston and was a current member of the Rosston City Council. Even though she had been unable to attend church regularly she was a member of the Willisville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Nolen Kelly, and her youngest son, Robert (Bob) Kelly. Survivors included a son, Johnny Kelly of Rosston, and a daughter and son-in-law, Janie and Glyndon Franklin of Cale. Three Sisters: Jeanie Taylor, Prescott, Ark.; Vivian Duke, Arkadelphia, Ark.; and Kathleen Fulmer, Arkadelphia, Ark.

Edna Kelly’s “pride and Joy’ were her grandchildren: grandson, Robert Kelly of Rosston; granddaughter and husband, Nicole and Isaac Ruiz of Prescott; and granddaughter, Jamie Kelly of DeQueen.

Her special treasures were her beloved great grandchildren: Jasmine Ruiz and “Bubba” Ruiz of Prescott; Abby Morris and Beau Morris of DeQueen. AND several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Mt. Moriah Church, Rosston, Ark., with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland and Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial to follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Rosston, Ark. Family will receive friends: Wed., July 4th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home, Prescot, Ark. In Lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Mount Moriah Cemetery Fund, 812 Mount Moriah Road, Rosston, AR 71858.
