Hi all. I wonder if anyone can tell me about the wife of Thomas de Northwood (d. 1381). In G Marion Norwood Callum's work the wife of Thomas is not known. However there are many trees on Ancestry which name her as Margaret de Montagu, the daughter of John de Montagu and Margaret de Monthermer, but I have not been able to find anyone who has stated the primary source of this. Also, the only reliable piece of information I can find about Margaret de Montagu is that she was a nun. This does not preclude her being married of course - it was common for women to become nuns after they were widowed - but then wouldn't she have entered the convent with her married name? And wouldn't the sources which mention her then note her marriage? If anyone can shed light on this I would be very grateful.
