BROOM--Bark/barque in 1840s

I am seeking info about the bark/barque BROOM which sailed to many ports in the 1840s. My gg grandmother arrived in NYC on it about 1 June 1846--the record is on Ancestry but misspelled 'Broome'.

I can't find much of anything about this ship. Most hits on Google show it as rescuing Irish immigrants from an iceberg after their ship, the 'Hannah', struck the iceberg and sank in 1849.

There are some hints that it was Glasgow-registered but I can't be sure. The captain or master was named White--first name unknown.

A bark is a small sailing ship and the Broom sailed to many ports in Quebec, Maine, Puerto Rico, New Orleans etc. but info is very slight.

Any help would be much appreciated, especially the Broom's home port and the captain's first name.
