My grandfather was born in Uruapan de Ocampo Michoacan in 1914. His names was Benjamin Hurtado Paz. He spoke fluent tarasco so did his older children, therefore, I have reason to believe that he was part of the Purhépecha Indians.
He came to the United States via the Bracero program through Brownsville, Texas. He met his wife Rose Arenas Gallo who was born and lived in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. It is believed that my grandmother was of Hopi Indian decent. Her family originally being from Arizona.
Ultimately they settled and raised their children in Santa Paula, Ventura County Area.
