After further research, I have discovered that my grandmother, Mary Munley, born of Michael(Mikel)Munley and Margaret Lipan, is the granddaughter of William Munley and Mary O'Hara. Apparently her grandparents came from Ireland and then to Canada. They had 4 of their children in Canada and their 5th (Maggie)in Bay City, Michigan, according to the 1880 U.S. Federal Census. It is therefore correct to assume that they must have emigrated to Michigan between 1870 - 1874 since their son, William, was born in 1870, in Canada, and their daughter, Maggie, born in 1874 in Michigan. The 1880 census also indicates that Mary O'Hara Munley is a widow which must have occurred between 1874 & 1880 (unless she remarried and had a baby in 1874 by someone else). I have found no information regarding William Munley except his son who died in 1896 and is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Bay City, MI, (his mother is buried there as well). I am having trouble connecting William and Mary since I have only found his name on a family record. Any information would be appreciated.
