I have been reading with keen Interest previous posts. After tracing my ancestor John REYNOLDS b. Circa 1810, Bristol, Wiltshire I can't find him in the Wiltshire Parish records.
I had not thought about Romany heritage until last night when I watched "Who do you think you are" Australia, Scott CAM. In this episode Wiltshire is mentioned as a strong Gypsy county.
My John REYNOLDS arrived in Sydney, Australia 1832 as a Seaman. He sought permission to leave his ship in Sydney to marry an Irish girl he had met. John REYNOLDS and Mary Ann CASEY had 8 children one of these being my GG Grandfather James REYNOLDS.
Interestingly over the generations REYNOLDS descendants have been and still are fortune tellers. So to my question "Is REYNOLDS a Romany name" ?
Thank you for taking the time to read this post.
